Avoiding AI in Google Search

| Friday 31st May, 2024

Just found a lovely little hack if you’re still using Google for search.

Add udm=14 into the parameters you pass to it and it presents just the search results instead of its tens of ‘helpful’ interpreted, AI enhanced features.

See the difference:

vs.

I have updated my Brave default search to include this, for searches from the title bar (I stopped using Kagi search when my free searches ran out… I am still making moves to degoogle my life, but it’s slow progress.)

My Brave settings…

Name: Google (no AI)
Shortcut: :gg
URL: https://google.com/search?udm=14&q=%s

Hope that helps!
