I love a lot of Fiona Apple’s work, but for me Extraordinary Machine is such a gem.
I identify so strongly with the protagonist of the song… “I still only travel by foot, and by foot it’s a slow climb”, and many of those around me… “but he’s no good at being uncomfortable so he can’t stop staying exactly the same.”
Through my personal development, evolution and growth of the last few years, this song has been guidance, permission and validation all at the same time.
I would put a link here but I don’t really want to promote Big Tech. If you use YouTube or other media platforms I’m sure you’ll be able to find it. Have a listen!
Fiona Apple, I take my hat off to you. I’m so pleased I watched the movie Pleasantville all those years ago, and I’m so pleased I looked up who had sung the amazing version of “Across The Universe” that played during the end credits. Otherwise I would probably still have no idea you existed.
