Immune to AI

| Wednesday 21st February, 2024

One of my favourite pastimes is sitting in a room full of people with musical instruments sharing songs and tunes.

And one of the best things about it is that it is completely immune to the onslaught of AI.

We are participating in something very real when we’re in an acoustic sing-around or session.

The air in the room is being vibrated by wood, strings, reeds, lips, vocal chords, drumskins, bells and shakers… total authenticity.

Sure it’s not perfect (far from it usually), it’s not monetisable, it’s not captured for later ‘enjoyment’. You must be there to experience the event.

It feeds the soul.
